Lady in Red

Shortlisted for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award 2005.

Extensively researched and highly acclaimed LADY IN RED combines superb dialogue, a compelling plot, powerful performance and evocative colours to take the audience on a moving and thought-provoking journey with 'Rose' - enabling them to explore one woman's attempts to leave an abusive relationship and the barriers she faces.

This moving domestic violence drama enables audiences to connect with the issues on a personal and emotional level helping them to ‘experience’ the subject matter and develop a deeper understanding and insight into the complex issues of domestic abuse. LADY IN RED explores all elements of domestic abuse and is particularly concerned with highlighting the effects of emotional and psychological abuse.

The performance lasts 45 minutes and is accompanied by an after-show discussion. This discussion workshop offers a useful means of examining attitudes, addressing myths, stereotypes and facts, providing valuable insights and breaking down pre-conceived ideas. This can be tailored for specific group domestic violence training or used as an open opportunity to explore the issues in more depth.

“Thank you so much for a brilliant, accurate, thought-provoking evocation of all the issues surrounding domestic violence” - Wearside DV Forum

"BRILLIANT SHOW 5 STARS - Not only did this superb performance engage my heart and mind, it reached deep down inside me - touched me to the heart. This is real theatre for real people! Like nothing I've ever seen before - so unusual, subtle, powerful language, in dialogue delivered so compellingly, I just couldn't look away. Made forty-five minutes seem like ten." - Julie Limise
